Development Resources

When you're a small business, managing your money and resources are key. At CropChocolate.com we have successfully started a company without any debt. Our goal is to continue operating with a pay-as-you-go philosophy, not acquiring debt.

So our challenge is to allocate our resources to best serve our customers. Here's what we want to do:

- Offer PayPal as a way of transacting business

- Add an internal email system and forum where customers can continue dialog once a product changes

- Allow customers to change quantities of items in their la Carte before they check out

- Allow customers to view larger pictures of the product in their la Carte with descriptions

- Start sending confirmation emails with USPS tracking numbers. We did it with UPS and now we're integrating with USPS

We will be adding PayPal first. Our developer has been working tirelessly since we are transacting all business in the CropChocolate.com shopping cart and not leaving CropChocolate.com to transact through PayPal. You will still have all the features of PayPal just within the CropChocolate.com site. We will be doing our final testing late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning with the goal of offering PayPal as a permanent option from then on.

Thank YOU for allowing us to do this and for growing with us!

  1. Thank you Jon for the pay pal. It really is the only way I like to pay.

  2. I think it's great that such a small, new company is listening to it's customers like you guys. Big companies don't put as much care and interest into their products and customer appreciation as you do. I think Paypal is very important to offer and should add a bunch more fans to your website. I also love all the other ideas you're implementing, hopefully soon. I especially like the idea of being able to see bigger pictures and the original description of products in la carte. Keep up the good work!

  9. It is so great that you give your customers so much attention and really listen! My daughter is now also a CC fan. This would be my 11 year old daughter who frequently checks the site and is sure to tell me when you have something cute! Anyway, she had another suggestion for you - she wanted to know why there wasn't a countdown or some type of meter indicating if something is almost sold out (we are Woot fans too). I agree that it is a good idea so I'm passing it along to you!

  10. Thanks for doing a great job of listening to your customers! Is it possible to add a running $ total to the la carte? Or maybe that is not such a good idea since it would remind me just how much money I am spending("saving"!)?

  11. Great suggestions Wendy and Sarah. The countdown is a bit tough since we manage our inventory through the la Carte and not by when a customer purchases the product. We originally launched with a something that showed how many units were available but now that the la Carte is in place it's a little different. We could do a countdown once a product sells out to tell then the next product will be up. We'll put that on the list.

Sarah, one of the things we have discussed is putting on your profile something that says how much you've spent and how much you've saved at CropChocolate.com. You will be the only one that will be able to see it.

These type of features are things that are slated for the future. We want to get the big things out of the way first then add the other features. We've been in business less than a year and we know we have a lot of progress to make. Thanks for the comments! We listen and love them!

  14. CC, my question related more to having a total amount for my la carte. For example, I might have a $100 budget so it would be nice to see what my current la carte total is in case I need to pare down before I finalize my purchase. I'm a bit lazy when it comes to doing math in my head (or on a calculator). Thanks!
