Instructions:
Begin by deciding what size album you would like to
create. If you choose to use the 8.5inch
x 11inch cardboard, you will end up with about a 4inch x 3.67inch finished
album with 10 sides to cover (if you finish the front and the back). Most 5x5 albums give you 12 sides to finish.
The following few steps apply to using the cardboard from an
8.5inch x 11inch pad of paper.
1. Draw
lines on one side of the cardboard so that you end up with six rectangles of
4inch x 3.67inch each. See picture for
help.
2.Cut along the long lines – one line should be along
the whole length (to eliminate the holes), and two-thirds of the other line,
making sure to leave one side intact.
3.Score (with a boning tool) along the short lines
and the final third of the middle long line.
Then fold along all scored lines.
You should end up with something that looks like this:
4.Then glue the two connected pages together so
that you end up with a 4inch x 11inch rectangle. Then fold into accordion for finished base.
Begin by cutting the background/base paper for each
side. You want to cover the full side,
so cut the paper to match the album size.
Since the mini album is slightly less than 5x5, you will need to cut the
paper to slightly less than 5 inch square if you go that route.
Next, choose which and how many pictures go on each
side. I like wallet size pictures since
you can fit more than one on each side.
Trim pictures to desired size.
Use circle punches or corner rounder to add some variety to the
pictures.
Then cut the
main accent pieces as desired. I used
the Slice machine and die cut large shapes (squares, frames, hearts, flowers,
etc) to act as the accents/mats behind the pictures. When selecting the size of the shape I used
the 3.5inch or 4inch size for most pages.
In some cases, to add variety, I used two 2.5inch shapes and offset
layered them.
Next, I added smaller accent shapes and words to fit the
“theme” of each page. I did this using
the Slice also. Add stickers, brads, or
other embellishments as desired.
Assemble and adhere the pieces together for each side
(except the last side which will end up as the back when the album is
closed). Add a title for the front – I
used alpha stickers for this, but you could die cut the alpha also.
Assemble the last side/back (see video for visual).
1.First cut a piece of ribbon (I use the length of
my arm as a good guide). Then adhere it
to the last side/back of the album. I
centered mine, but you can shift it up or down as you desire to work with your
album.
2.Then you can assemble your last page as you
would the others – adhere paper, then accents, then pictures and
embellishments.
Flip the album over and tie the ribbon. You now have a finished mini chipboard album.
Instead of doing an actual mini-album, Paula chose to showcase one of the embellishments that she actually used in her Week in the Life album.

sprayed it lightly with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.
After letting it dry, I covered the front with a piece of

Mini Album from 1 Sheet of 12x12 Paper - by LMissCrafter – Jamie
Instructions: 1. Score one sheet of 12" x 12" paper and cut as shown. 2. Fold into album and adhere pocket sides as necessary.
3. Glue ribbon onto front and back cover to form book. 4. Embellish as desired. Materials Used: Paper: Good Day Sunshine by My Mind's Eye Ribbon & Rhinestones: Michaels
Patterned paper to
decorate (used MME 6x6 Lost and Found Madison Ave)
Crystal Stickles
Bling
Magnet for closure (you
could also use ribbon or velcro)
Cut the first sheet of
card stock in half, you will make 2 shutter cards for the bases.
Take the card stock
horizontally (long side) and score it at the 2”, 4”, 8”, and 10” marks.
Turn the card stock 90 degrees and cut between the 2” and 10” score marks 1 ½”
in on each side, you will have 3 sections of the card but it will be in one
piece.
Fold the score lines so that front and back are a sideways “T” and the other
flaps tuck in behind.
To do this you will fold as follows:
Take the middle section and fold the second score line out (mountain) and the
next one in (valley). Note you will fold at 4”, and 8” marks.
One the top and bottom
sections you will fold on all score lines the first score line fold will be out
(mountain), and then in (valley), and then out (mountain) and then in (valley)
again. Note you will fold at 2”, 4”, 10”, and 12”.
When the card is closed it
will be 6” by 4”, so if anything is sticking, chances are something is folded
the opposite direction.
Repeat for the other
12"x6" piece, these will be the base of the album
Cut the other
12"x12" piece of card stock in half, from one of the
6"x12" pieces cut it in half. Take each piece and
score it at the 2" mark (these are the covers of the album)
Take the other
6"x12" piece and cut at 4", you will have a
4"x6" piece and a 8"x6" piece
Put the two
"cards" side by side and open them up, then adhere the 4x6 piece of
card stock in the middle (where the two back panels meet in the middle)
Fold the 6"x6"
piece at the 2" score line and adhere to the front panel with the flap of
the 6"x6" piece going behind the flap on the front, repeat for the
other side.
Attach a die cut to the
front for the closure, if you are using magnets apply before decorating, if you
are using ribbon add the ribbon to the back.
"Guess
Hooooooo Loves You" - A mini-album using envelopes
by Scrappy Canuck - Karen
Looking for a fun way to present some
little messages and photos to the ones you love - why don't you try out this
simple, but totally cute envelope mini album? With the great coordinating
paper packs here at Crop Chocolate, the possibilities are endless for this
little album
Materials:
MME Quite Contrary
- Little Boy Blue Package (6 Sheets of 12X12 paper and embellishments)
1. Trim 4
sheets of 12X12 paper to 10X10 inches. Save you sets of 2" strips -
you can use them to embellish.
2. Using 1
trimmed sheet, turn the square so it looks like a diamond - one vertex of
your shape pointing up, two out to the sides, and one down.
3. Label your
top and bottom points "A".
4. Label your
side points "B".
5. Working
from the top point "A" measure down both sides of the paper 4
3/4". Fold along the imaginary line created by your two measurements
(a bone folder is helpful with the double sided cardstock).
6. Repeat
with you bottom point "A".
7. Working
from your left side point "B", measure in 5 3/4" along each edge
of the paper. Fold across the line created by your measurements.
There should be a slight overlap with your point "A" folds.
8. Repeat
with your second point "B".
9. Cut out the
small triangles where your folds overlap.
9. Apply
adhesive along the overlapping edges of your envelope. Fold the two sides
in, and the bottom piece up.
Repeat the entire
process to create 2-4 envelopes.
PART 2:
Constructing your mini-album
1. Lay your
first envelope out on a workspace with the open side of the envelope facing
up.
2. Place the
second envelope on top. Alternatively, you can place the second envelope
so it overlaps behind the first envelope - just be careful with this configuration
as it gets thick and difficult to fold the mini-album if you use more than
three envelopes.
3. Using the
second envelope, run adhesive along the longest edge where the two envelopes
overlap (the top edge of a closed envelope).
4. Repeat
with each additional envelope you have created.
5. Using a
piece of 12"X12" cardstock, cut out two 5"x7" sheets of
paper. These will be used to mat your photos so you can place them inside
the envelopes. Repeat with a second sheet of paper if you have used more
than 2 envelopes.
6. Glue your
photos on the cardstock mats and embellish as desired. For my album, I
actually placed photos on both sides of the mat. You could also place a
photo on one side and journal on the other, or even include artwork or messages
from little ones in your family.
7. Embellish
the mats and envelopes with pieces from your paper pack. You can also use
the leftover 2" strips you cut off to make your envelopes to create a
decorative edge for your envelopes.
8. Slide the
matted photos/journaling/artwork into your envelopes and fold it up. You
could create a closure or even tie up with ribbon.
