I altered an Altoids tin for this project.
I used an empty altoids tin and painted it with gesso first, then painted it with Making Memories silver scrapbook paint. I gave it two coats.
I wanted to seal the paint, so I used matte mod-podge on it. I painted two coats on that on the tin.
It took numerous attempts to get the twine around the box. This was pink and white twine, from MME but it was the wrong color, so I used a pink sharpie and colored it to match.
to get the twin to not move once in place, I used some more mod podge on the back and held the twine in place while the glue was still wet. I strung it around and tied it in the front.
For the top, I used basic grey paper and glues that down and rounded the edges with my CM edge rounder.
The hearts on Top are wooden, and made by darice. They are natural wood color, so I inked them to make them pink and let them dry overnight.
The next day, I adhered them to my tin, and used stickles to decorate them.
The top 2 have dots on them, and the bottom ones say TIM for my hubby.
I bought conversation hearts to fill it with and will give it to him to keep on his desk at work :)

Sooo stinkin' cute!!! Thanks for sharing :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea!
ReplyDeleteDid the Mod Podge dry for you? I used it on a tin 2 years ago and it took at least a year to stop feeling kind of sticky, and had the same problem with a mini book cover.
ReplyDeleteCute project! I love altered tins.
Super cute!!!
