Since it is February, the month of {love}, it's only fitting that our Special Feature be about that wonderful 4-letter word.
CorrieW made this fabulous little album to show off her wedding pictures as well as her SURPRISE vow renewal that her husband planned all on his own. He made the invitations, bought another ring, cooked up an excuse to get me to the church and surprised her with the vow renewal.
If that's not love, then I don't know what is.
Corrie, thanks for sharing this story with us. Below are the images of the book that she made. :)
I used an empty altoids tin and painted it with gesso first, then painted it with Making Memories silver scrapbook paint. I gave it two coats.
I wanted to seal the paint, so I used matte mod-podge on it. I painted two coats on that on the tin.
It took numerous attempts to get the twine around the box. This was pink and white twine, from MME but it was the wrong color, so I used a pink sharpie and colored it to match.
to get the twin to not move once in place, I used some more mod podge on the back and held the twine in place while the glue was still wet. I strung it around and tied it in the front.
For the top, I used basic grey paper and glues that down and rounded the edges with my CM edge rounder.
The hearts on Top are wooden, and made by darice. They are natural wood color, so I inked them to make them pink and let them dry overnight.
The next day, I adhered them to my tin, and used stickles to decorate them.
The top 2 have dots on them, and the bottom ones say TIM for my hubby.
I bought conversation hearts to fill it with and will give it to him to keep on his desk at work :)
"Hello Chocolate lovers!! DeeDee here.. and where I may not be to the point where I have to make Valentines.. I keep thinking now is the perfect time to practice! So that's just what I did.. I threw some of those candy conversation hearts in a bag and got to making an embellishment for the treat bag! I love layering and this collection was just so darned cute I didn't do any inking, distressing and barely any altering! Just one tiny little piece!
I used the Love Me Do collection by MME, colored staples by Making Memories, a treat bag and the hearts. Don't forget an adhesive.. I just used a hot glue gun!
1) Pour your treats into a bag.
2) Zip and roll bag down to desired height.
3) Pick your patterned paper and cut to about a half inch larger (Width wise) than your bag.. I cut mine to around 4 inches tall.. Fold it in half and staple in place over treat bag closure.
4) pull out the matching embellishment sheet and pick your favorite pieces.. I chose the birds with balloon, three clouds, and 2 border pieces.
5) Using Jamie's Rosette tutorial turn your larger red border piece into a rosette!
6) Layer on top of the rosette your cute little birdies
7) Arrange and layer clouds to make the balloon seem in flight!
8) Snip the yellow ric-rac border into smaller pieces and adhere to the underside of your rosette..
9) Mount on your treat label!!
VIOLA! If you're ever unsure if something will look good, grab some repositionable tape! it's always easy to peel up and move around if you're dissatisfied :). Over n out! -D²
Cricut – Elegant Edges and George
Basic Shapes (for heart)
Directions:
The first (and hardest, I think)
step in making this card is cutting out and assembling the three layers. The
largest bottom layer I cut at 4 ¼ “ and I also cut the shadow at the same size.
The middle layer I cut at 3 ¾ “ and the shadow. The heart I cut at 3” and also
with the shadow. You do not have to use a Cricut to make this card. The
tutorials I have seen use Nestabilities. But you can use whatever you have
access to. You can even just use circles or squares if you like.
After you have the layers assembled
and embellished how you like, you can begin attaching them together. This is
the easy part!
Take your largest (bottom) layer and
whatever tool you like to use to make a hole for your brad. I like to use a
craft knife that has a broken tip to just slice a little spot. You want the
brad to go through at the top center far enough away from the edge that it
won’t tear. Now take the middle layer and do the same thing on the bottom of
it. The middle layer will go on top of the bottom with the brad holding them
both together. Next make a hole on the top of the middle layer and the bottom
of the top layer (if this sounds confusing please watch how I do it in the
video). Attach the top onto the middle with another brad. And now you are done!
Very simple! And so easy to do in
whatever theme you want!
*Tear all 4 sides of the plain cardstock. Fold paper fan-like, making each fold about 1” wide.
*Fold patterned paper fan-like, making each fold about ¾”-1”.
*Once the patterned paper is folded, fold the paper in half, making it look like a fan. Cut a notch long and wide enough about 1 ½” down from the fold. Slide the folded plain paper into the notch, making the wings.
*To secure the wings, take 1 piece of ribbon and tie it diagonally over the notch, making a knot in the front of the angel. Do the same with the 2nd piece of ribbon but tie diagonally on the opposite side.
*Gently spread out the “dress” of the angel and the wings.
*Gently press down on the center fold of the angel enough to create a head.
*Place 2-4 glue dots or other adhesive on the head. Place the curled wire over the glue and press down firmly. (To curl wire, wrap it around a small pencil, then pull it out slightly to give the ringlet look.)
*Place a few glue dots to the back of the hearts and stagger them on the front of the angel.
*Use embellishments to write your message, decorate, or simply write your message on the hearts.
*Works fabulously as a centerpiece or even nametag for the special sweetheart on Valentine’s Day

Instructions:
Slider:
1. Cut a piece of
cardstock that is 4" high by 9 1/8" long. If you are using a
different candy bar, measure the wrapper to determine the height and length you
will need to cover your bar (see video for description of included
measurements)
2. On the front, top
edge of your wrapper (the widest section), cut out a half moon shape that runs
from one side to the other. This will give your wrapper an "owl
shaped" head.
3. On the same top
edge, find the middle and measure down about 1/4".
4. Press the front
section down so that it lines up with the back section and punch a hole at the
marked location, making sure the hole goes through both sections.
5. Measure out a piece
of ribbon that is 4X the height of your wrapper. If you are using a Ritter
Sport bar, your ribbon would need to be 12" in length.
6. Thread the ribbon
from the front section through to the back section. Center the ribbon so
there are equal amounts sticking out the front and the back.
7. Place your candy
bar in the wrapper, pushing the ribbon down as you insert it into the
wrapper. Tie a bow at the top. Your candy bar should now slide up and
down into the wrapper when you pull up on the ribbon.
To embellish:
1. Cut out at least 15
1/2" hearts. Apply the hearts upside down with adhesive starting at
the bottom edge of the wrapper and working your way up - 3 rows of 5
hearts. Adjust according to your candy bar dimensions.
2. Cut out 2 hearts
that are at least 2" in height. Apply upside down on the side edges
of your wrapper for wings.
3. Cut out 2 - 1"
hearts and attach to the bottom edge for feet.
4. Cut out 1 -
1/2" heart and attach as a beak.
5. Using overlapping
circles, cut out eyes and adhere to wrapper.
6. If desired, add a
message to the back of the wrapper.
When Amber gave us the picture, I went for something simple but fun - some 3-D hearts. You can use these as Valentine's Day decorations or cards.
The CC products I used were:
EP's - Be Mine - 6x6
MM - Slice with Basic Design Card 1
MM - Slice tools - puncher
The Twinery - Maraschino Cherry twine
Non-CC products:
needle and thread (I used red thread)
pencil
How to:
1. Select 4-6 different patterned papers (I used 6). It's best to use some paper that has pattern on each side.
2. Cut out one 4" heart from each patterned paper using your Slice (or other cutting machine). I used the scalloped heart to give it a little more interest.
3. Layer the hearts on top of each other in the order you'd like them to be when you're done, and paper clip them together so they don't move.
4. Draw a line vertically down the center of the top heart.
5. Start punching holes along the line about 1/4" apart.
6. Start your thread at the top, leaving some slack to add the hanging loop later. And sew down the heart.
7. Add the loop with your twine.
8. Remove the paper clip and gently spread open the hearts until all spaces are even (or close to even). Mine aren't quite as even as I would have liked.
Description: 1. Cut a cupcake card base by hand or with a die cut machine. 2. Cut pieces of patterned paper and adhere to the front of the card base to form the frosting and wrapper of the cupcake. 3. Create a flag out of a strip of patterned paper and wrap around a toothpick. Cut flag to desired shape. Hold in place with strong adhesive glue (I used Beacon's 3 in 1). 4. Embellish cupcake as desired with ribbon and glitter. Materials: Paper: Love Me by My Mind's Eye Ribbon: Twill from my stash "Button" from Love Me by My Mind's Eye Various Die Cuts
1- Regular heart smaller than the scallop (this will be the base of the lid)
1-Regular heart smaller than all the rest (this will be the base of the bottom)
1-Strip of cardstock 2.5 x 8.5 (this may need to be longer depending on the size of your heart)
1-Strip of cardstock 1 x 10 (this may need to be longer depending on the size of the heart)

1. Take the strip of each piece of cardstock and score it in half horizontally and a 1/2" on the vertical edge.
2. Crease the score marks with a bone folder.
3. Take the long edge and cut small triangle pieces from the 1/2" edge. This will leave small wedge shapes that will be used to wrap around the heart shapes.
4. Do this for both pieces.
5. Take the smallest heart and apply adhesive around the edge
6. Wrap the 2.5" wide cardstock around the heart, attaching the little wedges to the adhesive.
Hint: Start in the middle at the tip of the heart for a nice crisp fold
7 When you get the first side to the inside of the heart leave a small flap and fold it over, trim off any excess
8. Repeat the same process for the second half of the heart and trim any excess
9. Apply a small amount of adhesive to the small flap and adhere it to the other side.
10. Take the other regular heart and repeat steps 5-9 with the 1" strip of card stock
11. Apply adhesive to the bottom and top hearts and adhere to the scallop hearts
